St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators Conditional Release Commission Pursuant to Article 12, Sections 270 – 275 of the Senate Bill 2486--A and Assembly Bill 3686--A, the Conditional Release Commission was created. This Commission has been created to determine which persons serving a definite sentence of imprisonment may be eligible for conditional release. Also, to determine as each inmate applies for conditional release, the need for supplemental investigation of the background of the inmate. This Commission will possess legal custody of the persons conditionally released and placed under the supervision of the Probation Department until expiration. Also, this Commission will have the power to revoke the conditional release of any person and to issue declarations of delinquency. Membership shall include no less than three (3) members. Each member of the Commission shall have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and have at least five years experience in the field of criminology, administration of criminal justice, law enforcement, probation, parole, law, social work, social science, psychology, psychiatry, or corrections. No member of this commission shall serve as a representative of any political party or on an executive committee or other governing body (i.e. employee of any political committee, organization or association, Judge, Sheriff, or District Attorney). Term: Four years. |
