The Civil Division of the Sheriff’s Department is mandated by Law. The primary functions of this Division are serving various types of legal papers, including Family Court Papers, Divorces, Income Executions, Property Executions, etc. The majority of these papers are received in the Civil Division from Attorneys, but also come directly from Family Court and the Department of Social Services. This office is also responsible for the collection of bad debts from defendants and foreclosures on both real and personal property. This office turns in over $200,000.00 in the form of revenue to the County annually in Sheriff’s fees.
