St. Lawrence County Soil and Water
Farm Safety Days

For over 10 years the St. Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District been a part of the St. Lawrence County Progressive Agriculture Home and Farm Safety Days. Over the past years, we have been able to educate over 4,800 students that attended. The St. Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District, SLC Emergency Services, the Extension Learning Farm, SLC Public Health and other local community volunteers of St. Lawrence County, coordinate these Safety Days.

Prevention of injuries and deaths around homes and farms is the goal of our Committee. Children are taught to recognize safety related hazards and how to avoid them by visiting different stations and listening to professionals and participating in activities. We hope that those who attend will in turn share what they learn with their parents and others, preventing more injuries and deaths.

Safety Day stations have include sun safety, gun safety, first aid, 911 emergency phone procedures, electricity safety, a group PTO safety demonstration and more in the past.
